Cause of Establishment:The Temple came into existence on Thursday, 10th of bright half of the month of Chaitra, Samvat 1234 (1177 A.D.). The Parmars were worshippers of Durga of Shakti. This temple is in a way the temple of Goddess Durga who is called Sachchi Dhaya (the real Nourisher Mother)

       
Brief of the Diety:

The temple deity is Goddess Durga in her Mahishasura Mardini Avtar (the killer of Demon Mahisha). She is popularly called Sachchidhaya. The idol is that of Durga, eight armed, seated on lion and killing the Demon Mahisha (Buffalo formed demon). Mahishasura had tormented both earth and heaven by his demoniac prowess and excesses. Gods approached Goddess Durga to kill the demon and secure riddance of him. Devi, therefore, with her ferocity waged war with Mahisha and his armies and finally subdued him.

Shakta (worshippers of Shakti i.e. Durga) and all Hindus.

Architecture of the Temple:
Important Architectural Characteristics:

The temple has been built in Nagar style of architecture. The Garbh Griha (sanctum sanctorum) and Sabha Mandap (prayer portico) are artistically built. The original hall is 9.50 meters wide. There are projections on its upper supports. Beautiful lattice work adds to the grandena of style. The length of the temple is 24 meters. On the lower parts of walls there is special ornamentation. A huge entrance hall and nine bracketed entrances beautify the temple.

Religious aspects of temple:

The Goddess is the clan goddess of Parmar Rajputs, hence Hindus and Jains both worship the Goddess as their clan patroness. Oswals of the Jain community regard the Goddess as their clan Goddess. They owe their origin to Osia.

Unique features of the temple:

Pooja is performed according to the classical scriptural instructions for Pooja. Eighteen clans of Rajputs got converted into Jainism. They are Oswals. They all hold the Goddess in great esteem. During Navaratras special ritualistic performances and pooja ceremonies are held.

Festivals & Fairs in Temple (Main Events):

All Hindu festivals are held but special importance is given to Navaratras of Chaitra and Ashwin month. Thousands of visitor flock to the temple to have a darshan of Devi and the ever lit lamp.

Custom & Traditions of Temple:

Visitors come with their wishes and receive the blessings of the Goddess. They circumambulate the sanctum sanctorum. Various offerings are laid at the feet of the Goddess. Newly wedded couples come for happy conjugal life whereas the first ceremonial head shaving of a child is also held here.

Herein the shrine of the Goddess is built with the idol enshrined on it. Verandahs, open portico (central hall for prayer) is 9.50 feet wide other deities like Shri Satya Narain and Vishnu are also enshrined in the temple.

Issues requiring global attention for conservation, protection and improvement of the temple:

Chemical treatment for cleansing the idols, statuettes central beam and carved pillars etc. is required. The shikhar of the temple has also developed cracks for which repair is necessary.
