Cause
of Establishment:When
Aurangjeb, the Emperor at Delhi began persecution in the name of
religion and caused devastation of temples and sacrilege,
upheaval and scare prevailed all over. In 1722 A.D. Shri Shiva
Ram Goswami, the eldest one of the Goswamis left Vrindawan in
the protection of Shri Ram Singh I of the Jaipur Royal family.
Via Sewa Shriji Radhakunda, Barsana, Kama, Govindpura (Ropads)
and Amer Valley he came to Jai Niwas Bagh where in a building
having a canopry above he installed the idol. Thakur Shriji was
installed here and this place was called Barah Dari (twelve
doors hall). When Sawai Jai Singh was building the city of
Jaipur, he saw in his dream that the place belonged to Thakur
Shriji. Leaving this place, the king established the Shrine of
Govind Devjii where now the temple stands.
