Cause of Establishment: In the times of the royalty of Jaipur, the kings were highly religious and they practiced various religious rituals with great tenacity and gusto. Incessant recitatioln of holy book and chanting of maha mrityunjaya mantra to a avert all calamities and death. By the death defying mrityunjaya mantras Lord Shiva is propitiated. This was founded on fourteenth day of the bright half the month of Baisakhi in Samvat 1851.

       
Brief of the Diety:

Idols of human size, one of Lord Shiva, the other of Parvati are installed. They are beautiful marble idols which are meticulously dressed and decorated. Beautiful idols of Ganesh Ji, Kartikeya Ji and Nandi, the bull are also present. The Shiva family is venerated.

Here we find a very happy combination of Shri Vallabha sect of Vaishnavas and their other counter parts- all conjoining in the worship.

This is also an excellent specimen of temple building style which was adopted when the city itself was built. This moghal style of architecture reached its climax in times of Maharaja Pratap Singh.

 Castle gate like high gates, elevated plinth of main edifice, inner gate, open chowk and worship hall (Jagmohan) lend the temple its own identity.

Lime mortar, Red Stone, Sand powder and Marble

Total Construction Time: It took two years to build the temple.
Religious aspects of temple:

Devotees belonging to Vallabha sect of Vaishnavas, other Vaishnavas and Shaive come to the temple where unceasing recitation of holy books and chanting of Mahamrityunjaya mantras are believed to be more effective.

Unique features of the temple:

This is a Shiva temple in which dispite the Shivalingam, the humansize idols of Lord Shiva and Parvati along with Ganesh, Kartikeya and Nandi are worshipped. The idols in marble are captivating in their graceful elegance. An additional specialty is the idol of Shri Durga seated on a tiger. Thus Shiva and Shakti both are available for worship.

Service and worship to the deities are performed with adherence to the prescribed scriptural norms. Shiva Lingam as well the human size idols of Lord Shiva and parvati are worshipped by the faithful in full devotion. The idols are adorned and offered "Bhoga" which is in keeping with Vaishnava tradition.
