Cause of Establishment:The Queen of His Highness Maharaja Sawai Jagat Singh inspired Jagat SinghJi to construct a temple of Lord Shri Ram Chandra, the Queen's personal deity. The Maharaja not only built the temple of Shri Ram Chandra Ji but also a temple of Chandreshwar Mahadeva as the queen was of the Chandrawata clan. This came to be known as the temple of Maaji Sahiba Chandrawata.

The castle like temple has high Chowks, a magnificent entrance gate, wide open chowks and Jagmohan.

This magnificent edifice is placed on a corner of one part of a Chokri in front of important urban functions and happens to fall on the tourist route of Hawa Mahal. Dedicated to Lord Shri Ram, this temple was built around 250 years back as per the original concept of Vidhyadhar’s town plan. The building has been planned to house some secular functions also along with religious use. The outer periphery on ground floor was part of the market hence it houses many shops.

This is an exquisite example of Jaipur architecture and all possible elements which are result of influences of Hindu, Jain, Mughal and eastern traditions have been used to adorn its façade and decorate its interiors. The main architectural elements in Jaipur style of architecture is design of Jharokhas, brackets, chhajjas and top of Jharokhas. Here in this building, bengaldar domical roofs and groups of small domes have been rhythmically placed to form a harmonious façade. The role of stone and lime jail work in presenting the overall effect is of highest value. The design of stone parapets is common in all parts of building. Exquisite fineness has been achieved in carving works on marble.

Total Construction Time: It took Three years to build the temple.
 

 

Unique features of the temple:

The sprawling temples covers one acre of land. This nine chowk splendid building has an ornamental frontage with lattices and lattice windows. It is a unique creation of architecture. The front portals, main gate and Sanctum sanctorum again are work of splendid architecture and are worth seeing.
